UK TV Premiere Dates: 2024 Calendar

Doctor Who is over! Now the series 15 speculation and the long wait for the Christmas special begins. The big news sci-fi-wise is new six-part series Supacell, which comes to Netflix on June 27 and tells a time-twisting story about a group of Black Londoners who develop superpowers – read more about that here. The peerless Inside No. 9 also concluded last week, so catch up on that on BBC iPlayer if you haven’t been watching weekly. Other than that, the big news on British TV this week is: FOOTBALL. There’s loads of it, so fill your studded boots.

Fans of British crime dramas are also eating well at the moment, from new Tudor-set murder mystery Shardlake, which comes adapted from CJ Sansom’s novel series and is available now on Disney+. Shardlake stars Arthur Hughes as the titular lawyer sent to investigate a murder at a monastery that Thomas Cromwell (Sean Bean) is determined to close down.

The second series of Belfast-set Blue Lights has concluded on BBC One, as has as the second series of Liverpool-set The Responder, starring Martin Freeman and available to stream in full now. And if your Brit TV tastes extend to the stranger side of things, then Alibi has The Red King, an original crime mystery set on a weird island where the new copper played by Anjli Mohindra investigates some Summerisle-style goings on.
